So, there we were on a beautiful sunny Sunday in Ohio, watched Zachary play baseball, came home and started playing outside. It was windy at the game, dust was flying around like crazy, but nothing too crazy. We got home and the neighbor kids wanted to play outside. Sure, no problem, right? WRONG. The trees start to sway more prominently. We usher the kiddos inside... just in case. With all of these trees around here, you never know when a stray branch could swipe one of them in the eye!! Did I mention it was still sunny outside? This was the really weird part. It was ONLY the wind... not even a sprinkle of rain. Ryan and I were in the garage checking on our favorite pet, Tiger, when crash! What the hell was that? Just one of our ENORMOUS trees in the woods crashing into about 5 other trees. About an hour later, a huge branch from the tree closest to the driveway (and the house) comes down with such force that it shook the ground we were standing on. Thank god, it just cracked the driveway and not Zachary's room!
Needless to say it was insane and of course about one hour into the storm we lost power. We finally got power restored on Thursday. The kids finally went back to school on Friday. They already had Monday off for "fair" day---no I'm not kidding...we are in Big Walnut school district!! But, 3 calamity days used in September, from a hurricane, are you kidding me? The whole power thing was humbling, thank god Dwight and Nancy had power so we still had plenty of creature comforts!!
To add to the fun of the Ike week---Merrill gets bought out and I get really sick! This is officially the worst week ever!!
Not to mention, it was my baby's first day of preschool on Friday. Little Miss Quinnie now goes to school every Friday from 9-1pm. For the love of god, I PACK HER A LUNCH to eat at school. TRAUMATIZING!! She, of course, was perfectly fine while I left the school sobbing like I was the baby. I survived, but I am sufficiently scarred. When I went to pick her up (15 mins early of course), all 12 of the kids are sitting quietly at their tables eating their tiny little lunches from their enormous lunch boxes. Just kill me already!! I am actively searching for a stay-at-home mom's who send their last baby to school anonymous meeting. This is America--surely there is one out there!
O.K. so I just tried for about an hour to get more pics to post and it is a no-go for now. I will try again soon!!
